The MAXXI Museum in Rome hosts the exhibition "70 years of Television, 100 years of Radio," opening the doors to the history of radio and television.

From October 10 to December 3, 2024, it will indeed be possible to visit it in the extra MAXXI space and for free.

The memory of a country is a fundamental part of its own identity, and for 100 years Rai has constituted, preserved, developed a large part of this memory. Representing the history of Italian radio and television means telling the autobiography of a nation, and this exhibition aims to be a journey into the shared "collective memory" of a large part of the Italian population.

From 1924 to today, radio and television communication has played a key role in the creation of national identity and in the cultural evolution of the country.

Radio first, then television, entered the homes of all Italians bringing entertainment, culture, information, sports, and scientific dissemination, shaping and reflecting the main social changes of the last hundred years.

The exhibition represents a real historical overview in which the most relevant events of our country are retraced and the way they were narrated to Italians.

Each decade will be recounted through a video that will review its most significant historical moments.

The magic of the exhibition opens with a surprising area, full of memories and emotions, where the history of TV and radio becomes interactive, thanks to the installations of the Rai Radio and Television Museum: two multimedia consoles will activate some vintage radios and TVs, through which you can listen to and watch, at your choice, content related to the highlights of the first 40 years of the country's history, such as the historic radio announcement of October 6, 1924.

The exhibition path unfolds among audiovisual materials, paper documents, photographs, vintage equipment, costumes, interactive rooms, set designs, together with works of art of absolute relevance belonging to the Rai collection.
