The show

The Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum , directed by Maria Giuseppina Di Monte and belonging to the State Museums Directorate of the city of Rome, directed by Mariastella Margozzi, presents the exhibition by Bahar Hamzehpour entitled The hidden half of the moon . The exhibition project is part of the Convention signed by the Directorate of State Museums of the city of Rome - HC Andersen Museum and the University of Roma Tre to collaborate in shared cultural initiatives aimed at studying issues related to the role of women, especially in the field artistic and cultural. A role that appears increasingly central in troubled historical moments full of uncertainties.

The exhibition that the Museum proposes also inaugurates the series of initiatives envisaged by the Convention which will be articulated throughout the year by promoting concerts, debates, photographic exhibitions and other interventions to focus attention on the theme of female art in countries affected by religious conflicts and cultural or in those where freedom of expression is limited or prejudiced by political and religious orientations that preclude its full realization. In this perspective, the exhibition by Bahar Hamzehpour is particularly significant. Rome and Teheran, has selected a series of engravings and woodcuts: solid objects that can be scribbled, torn, burned.

Objects that do not need translation and that cannot be deleted with a click. The works of this young artist recount the condition of women in patriarchal societies, of worlds without choice, in which rights and equality are still a utopia and women are ignored, forgotten in their merits, in their needs therefore "Invisible". In the series "Portraits" Bahar gives a voice to women who have been denied a normal childhood, because they are forced into arranged marriages and only fill roles of assistance and care.
