FMAV - Palazzo Santa Margherita

Fondazione Modena Arti Visive is a center of cultural production and professional and educational training aimed at disseminating contemporary art and visual culture and acting as a point of reference in the interaction between different disciplines and artistic languages and in the dialogue between the arts, science and technologies.

Thanks to the multiplicity of locations it manages and collecting the legacy of the three institutions that merged into it - Galleria Civica di Modena, Fondazione Fotografia di Modena, Museo della Figurina - Fondazione Modena Arti Visive presents itself as a cultural district that proposes and organizes exhibitions and courses of advanced training, workshops, performances and conferences, enhancing its heritage and building a system of networks at a local and extraterritorial level aimed at enriching the community in which it operates. Located in one of the most important streets of the historic center of Modena, Palazzo Santa Margherita, whose name derives from the church that once stood in this area, hosts, in addition to the Modena Arti Visive Foundation – which since October 2017 has absorbed Galleria Civica and Figurine Museum which were located here – also other cultural services such as the Delfini Library and the Orazio Vecchi Musical Institute. The rooms of the Fondazione Modena Arti Visive are accessed by going up to the first floor where the Great Hall is located. Continuing to the left you access the staircase that leads to the Upper Rooms on the second floor. On the same level, part of the photography collections and the drawing and graphics collection now managed by the Modena Arti Visive Foundation are also located, which scholars and enthusiasts can view by appointment. If you continue in the opposite direction from the Great Hall, past the ticket office and bookshop, you enter the staircase that leads to the Figurine Hall, a large space set up with displays conceived as large albums to browse through and a 12 meter display case. On the same floor, the Figurine Museum collection, established following the donation by Giuseppe Panini, can also be consulted by appointment. At Palazzo Santa Margherita, there are also two laboratories that Fondazione Modena Arti Visive makes available for activities dedicated to children and teenagers.
