The Civic Museums of Pesaro are pleased to present the solo exhibition of Claudio Di Carlo, Dizziness at Dusk, curated by Lorenzo Canova and Francesca Pietracci, promoted by the Municipality of Pesaro and the Pescheria Foundation - Visual Arts Center, in collaboration with Pesaro Museums, which will open on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the Project Room of Palazzo Mosca - Civic Museums.

The exhibition is part of the Pesaro Italian Capital of Culture 2024 program.

Dizziness at Dusk offers a synthesis of the pictorial narrative and painting production from 2007 to 2024 of the artist - who lives and works between Hamburg, Pescara, and Rome - marked by the presence of women and men, bodies and details immersed in an indefinite atmosphere.

With this project, Claudio Di Carlo returns to Pesaro after creating and donating, in 2018, a work dedicated to Rossini for the composer's birthplace: and it will be this work, titled Already the Moon is in the Middle of the Sea, that will open the path composed of nine other works created in oil and gold leaf on canvas from 2007 to 2024. It is a panoramic view that represents the various chapters of his pictorial narrative, punctuated by the presence of women and men, bodies, details, and situations captured by the media or from his photos, always reworked and painted. The constant theme that binds them is the indefinite atmosphere that is created at dusk, causing a sort of dizziness, amazement, and disorientation, as well as the improbable scenes that Di Carlo reconstructs and that are poised between reality and fiction. Each work contains a metaphor, a meaning to be discovered at various levels.

Through intense iconic definition, Di Carlo thus constructs ambiguous mechanisms that unite different moments and places in the synchronicity of pictorial space, crossing iconic intersections and silent stories that, in their suspended time, tell us of fascinating enigmas and indecipherable narratives hidden in the original flow of painting.
