"Stone documents: traces of the past, signs in the present. The central building of the University and its block through the images and papers of the historical archive of the University of Pavia" Palazzo del Broletto Opening Thursday 13 October at 5.00 pm

The University of Pavia, in the course of its centuries-old existence, has built up a huge building heritage spread throughout our city. If we focus on its historical nucleus, the headquarters of the University, this "place of knowledge" of our past, we realize that those spaces have always been in constant dialogue with the city, with the environment and in harmony with the people who have lived here for centuries.

It was built, rebuilt, transformed, to respond to the University's vocation to play an important role in the public life of the city, with an eye towards the main protagonists of academic life, the students, with their exponentially growing needs through time, and following the needs of research and teaching with the creation of new environments dedicated to them.

The exhibition "Stone documents: traces of the past, signs in the present. The central building of the University and its block through the images and papers of the historical archive of the University of Pavia" , created by the University Archive System Service in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Pavia, in partnership with the CRAL Ateneo Pavia and with the sponsorship of ANAI, the Italian National Archives Association (Lombardy), aims to "show" places, spaces, transformations and restorations in photography of the central university building and its block through positives, almost all original.
