The Casa del Suono in Parma is located in the evocative space of the former church of Santa Elisabetta, the main objective is to make us reflect on our way of listening and understanding music. The path that the Casa del Suono proposes is that of the history and evolution of these instruments to reach today's situation (from the phonograph to the gramophone, from the radio to the tape recorder, from the compact disc to the iPod) and take a look towards the future. Inside it houses a precious collection of sound producers, as well as structures equipped with innovative sound reproduction systems and services dedicated to scientific and artistic research, teaching and dissemination. Enhancing these spaces, the path unfolds through six stages that combine the historical-sociological and technical-scientific dimensions and lead the visitor on an ideal journey, with a strong interactive character, with multimedia stations for in-depth analysis, from the phonograph to the sound synthesis technology. At the center of the church, a diffusion system specially created for the Casa del Suono and suspended in the center of the dome, spreads a dynamic and spatialized sound message, a specially commissioned piece of electronic music, to exemplify the ideal communion between instruments of sound reproduction sophisticated and avant-garde and contemporary musical artistic production.
