The show

On November 19, 2021 on the Capriate floor of Palazzo Sant'Elia, the anthological Gaetano Cipolla opens its doors, the show of forms curated by Alba Romano Pace. Presented by the Sant'Elia Foundation, the Orestiadi Foundation and the Municipality of Palermo, in partnership with the Biondo Theater, the Scaldati Archive and the Nuvole Association, the exhibition is a large retrospective which, through the many works on display, celebrates the vision of the form among the bright colors of the paintings, the rapid line of the drawings and the theatrical works created by Gaetano Cipolla when as a set and costume designer he participated in the golden years of theater in Sicily, working with Raul Ruiz, Mario Martone, Franco Scaldati , Enzo Moscato. "The exhibition is conceived as a diary, now intimate, now humorous or nostalgic, to discover the works of Gaetano Cipolla and his creative vision that intertwines with the history of a suffering but culturally alive city, which was Palermo between the end of the 1980s and early 1990s »says curator Alba Romano Pace.

Leoluca Orlando, President of the Sant'Elia Foundation, declares «in the Gaetano Cipolla exhibition the threads of the history of various places in Sicily are intertwined with a marked artistic sensitivity; the works express a multiplicity of feelings as in a personal life diary that Gaetano Cipolla gives to the “reading” of his admirers ».

The President of the Orestiadi Calogero Pumilia Foundation declares: "Within a few months the Foundation returns to collaborate with Palazzo Sant'Elia, with an initiative that proposes one of the artists who, with validity and aesthetic choices of great effect, collaborated on the project of reconstruction, through the theater, of Gibellina. In this way the Foundation is linked to a very important period in its history ».
