The Planétarium de Nantes, open since 1981, has the vocation of presenting shows relating to astronomy, for all types of public. The Planétarium de Nantes, in fact, offers guided tours of about an hour, adapted to a certain type of public, according to age or level of knowledge. Under a dome of 8 meters in diameter it receives an audience of 51 spectators, welcoming about 50,000 visitors a year. Inside the Planétarium de Nantes, in the entrance hall, it is possible to admire three large meteorites (the heaviest weighs 36 kilos), which the public can touch; showcases displaying fragments of different types of meteorites; different models of globes of planets, rockets and the international space station; probe models such as "Juno" (which gravitates around Jupiter), or Hubble (the space telescope) etc. In addition to the daily visits, the Planétarium also offers other activities: once a month, in fact, a night session on a specific theme is proposed; in addition, the Planetarium also participates in various local, national and European events, such as the Science Festival, Heritage / Wedding Days, Museum Night, etc.
