HAB Galerie is an exhibition space in Nantes. Throughout the year, this exhibition space welcomes many contemporary art exhibitions and organizes various events. Inside the HAB Galerie it is possible to find a library with the catalogs of the exhibitions that have been held and objects related to contemporary art. Admission to the exhibitions is always free. The Hab Galerie is part of the "Banane Hangar", an emblematic and youthful place in Nantes, where, in addition to the exhibition gallery, there is also a theater, a nightclub, restaurants and cafes. It stands next to the gray Titan crane and opposite Daniel Buren's ring sculpture “Les Anneaux”, in the industrial atmosphere of the construction site park. The curious name "Banana Hangar" derives from the ancient function of this large space: until 1987 it was a warehouse for storing bananas landed in the port of Nantes from Guadalupe, Guinea and the Ivory Coast. With its vast surface (about 8000 square meters) it has now been renovated to offer the citizens and tourists of Nantes a place with great cultural and social ferment.
