With The Purple Chamber by Paul Maheke (1985, Brive-la-Gaillarde, France) - the French artist's first solo exhibition in an Italian institution - from 28 October the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation presents the second appointment of Corpo Celeste , the exhibition cycle curated by Chiara Nuzzi specifically designed for the Project Room program , the Foundation's observatory project on contemporary arts.

Through his research, Maheke uses different media that contaminate each other, ranging from installation to video, from sculpture to sound, to drawing and performance , an element - the latter - considered central by him for his ability to transcend the use of language. In Maheke, in fact, movement, gesture and the environment become vehicles for exploring the limit, potential and transformation in relation to human identity and perception .

In The Purple Chamber the artist condenses the themes and research that have always characterized his work within a space of reinvention and meditation: a true cosmology, understood by the artist as a world that takes shape in front of the public . A continuously changing space in which different elements - sculpture, drawing, performance - meet and intertwine with each other while maintaining their potential autonomy. The public is invited to enter an intimate and disorienting environment , the walls of which are covered with lilac curtains which reveal, in a continuous game of stratifications, sculptures and drawings . Among these are the unpublished corpus The Purple Chamber series (2023) and an impressive wall painting - created specifically for the exhibition - and some previous works, such as Sans titre (ombre blanche) (2020) and You & I (fallen orbiters) ( 2023).
