The personal of the French artist François Douady, the exhibition Impressions at Manifiesto Blanco presents a selection of prints on matte paper resulting from an elaborate creative process, a blend of multiple techniques. Douady's work is rooted in photography, through a visual and perceptive reinterpretation of old images taken by his father, moments of daily life. Memories and sensations that these evoke are captured by the skillful hand of the artist and their essence is translated into quick drawings, sometimes simply sketched, later digitized. The process then continues with a methodical work on colors, contrasts, and shapes, which allows to definitively reclaim these photographed moments, transforming the father's gaze into his own personal vision. The print extends the creative process, giving a physical and tangible existence to the regained memories. At the same time, the paper brings the father's photographs back to life, becoming a support for the encounter between art and memory, in a perpetual dialogue between past and present. The observer is thus presented with a rich visual experience, a layering of moments, memories, and interpretations that can only evoke new sensations, further impressions. Each work therefore opens up to an emotional dimension that invites an inner journey, transforming each print into an intimate and personal encounter. Three are therefore the, title of the exhibition. The term, polysemous in French, indicates reproductions on paper, resulting from the printing process, but it also translates into Italian as impressions, perceptions, sensations. Those of the artist, born from the reinterpretation and reappropriation of the father's photographs, and those of the observer, arising from the contemplation of the work and the relationship established with it. François Douady, born in 1985, attends the National School of Fine Arts in Tours and later moves to London to study at the Chelsea College of Art & Design. Here he approaches the world of graphics which, in addition to influencing his artistic practice, will be crucial for his professional career. He starts working in the publishing field for magazines like Vogue, where he hones his skills in typography and art direction. The subsequent collaboration with Giorgio Armani Beauty will allow him to add a new dimension to his creative practice through the direction of visual campaigns that blend photography and brand identity. From this combination and integration of multiple influences arise the works exhibited in the show, reflecting Douady's artistic roots and the richness of his technical and creative path.
