From 25 June to 10 September 2025
As part of the La Milanesiana Festival, conceived and directed by Elisabetta Sgarbi, the Reggia di Venaria hosts the exhibition Altan. Wonderful creatures. The ink drawings, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the birth of Pimpa and Cipputi, the famous characters created by Altan.
This exhibition, curated by Elisabetta Sgarbi, presents 64 ink drawings that Francesco Tullio Altan created in the early 1970s in Rio de Janeiro featuring animals and human figures.
A new ark of animated beings, bringing together flying birds, little devils, horned bipeds, and beautiful, strong-willed women in a world where the human and the bestial meet.
The works are inspired by the style of Dürer as well as the inventions of Bosch and Goya.
Titles and captions, by Altan himself, are an integral and eloquent part of the work.
All the ink drawings come from the author's personal archive.
Simultaneously with the exhibition, the book "Ink Drawings" will be released by La nave di Teseo.
The exhibition is curated by Elisabetta Sgarbi.
Exhibition design by Luca Volpatti.
In collaboration with Consorzio delle Residenze Reali Sabaude and Ciaccio Arte.
