The Günter Grass-Haus is a house museum in Lübeck dedicated to Günter Grass, painter, sculptor and writer and winner of the Nobel Prize for literature, who spent his last years in Lübeck. Opened in 2002 as a forum for literature and visual arts, today the museum focuses on researching and communicating the interaction between literature and figurative art in Grass's work, presenting the life and work of this artist at 360 degrees. For interdisciplinary research, the museum has at its disposal a collection of more than 1,400 original drawings, lithographs, watercolors and engravings, as well as numerous manuscripts from the artist's estate. In 2016, the entire collection was digitized. In May 2018, the Günter Grass House acquired 33 early Günter Grass paintings. The acquired collection includes nude studies, portraits, watercolors, ink drawings and a print of what is presumably the artist's only woodcut. The museum acquired the complete handwritten versions of the autobiographical works Peeling the onion (2006) and "Camera obscura" (2008) in December 2020.
