Stop! No, not in the sense that you have to stop. On the contrary, continue reading and discover the event that Castello D'Albertis-Museum of World Cultures is hosting from 9 September to 20 November . Stop is in fact the title of the 17th edition of the International Exhibition of Contemporary Illustrators, with the illustrator Adelchi Galloni as a special guest. The event, organized and curated by the Tapirulan Association, in collaboration with the Municipality of Genoa , offers two exhibitions set up at the Castello D'Albertis Museum of World Cultures.
The first exhibition is dedicated to illustrators who participated in the annual Tapirulan illustration competition, whose theme was " Stop ": on display the works of 52 artists selected from over 600 participants from all over the world. In the second section, an exhibition entirely dedicated to Adelchi Galloni, entitled La via del Segno, will be exhibited, with almost 200 original works - from the artist's archive, from important private collectors and from the archives of the Musil of Brescia - which retrace over 60 years of career of one of the most important Italian illustrators. Born in 1936, after completing his studies at the Brera Academy, Galloni arrived at Gamma Film, where he dedicated himself to the creation of carousels and advertising, with which he obtained several awards, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival with the carousel for the Italian Cotton Committee. In those years he also made the sets for the animated film “Putiferio goes to war”, one of the first Italian feature films.
In the advertising field, he deals with many press campaigns for clients such as Fiat, Alitalia, Knorr, Tages-Anzeiger, Chesterfield, Shell, Barilla, Champion; in the 70s he began the editorial production that will see him author of books for children and young people, in particular of some extraordinary titles published in the "Pietre prezione" series by Mondadori, such as "Baciccia nel Far west", "La tigre a chess", "The Baron of Muchhausen", "Gulliver's Travels", and a multitude of other books. Also in the 70s he collaborated with magazines and newspapers (Corriere della Sera, Donna Moderna, Anna); and it is above all the long collaboration with Grazia to consecrate him as a multifaceted and incredibly inventive and experimental artist, for the variety of styles and techniques. In the 1990s, Galloni taught at the International School of Illustration in Venice, the European Institute of Design in Milan and since 2008 he has been a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. He has also dealt a lot with animation, both with the successful series "Clorofilla dal cielo blu", and with "The most beautiful fairy tales in the world" by director Victor Tognola. He was characters creator and background director for the films “Johan Padan a la descoverta de le Americhe” by Dario Fo.
