In the beating heart of the Castelli Romani, an extraordinary event comes to life: Shaman - Dionysian Visions. The exhibition takes place inside the Aldobrandini Stables, today home to the Tuscolano Museum, which celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary as a multifunctional space, following the impressive redevelopment intervention signed by one of the greatest masters of contemporary architecture, Massimiliano Fuksas. In this unique setting, among the artifacts of the ancient Latin city of Tusculum, Shaman opens an unexpected threshold between past and present, between sacred and urban. Twenty-eight artists from the international street art scene - Italian and foreign - bring their creative energy into a space dedicated to historical memory, giving life to a powerful and visionary dialogue with the archetype of Dionysus. Accustomed to expressing themselves on the margins of cities, among walls and metropolises, these artists have been called to confront classicism, blending archaeology with urban art. The result is an exhibition that dissolves the boundaries between time and creation, between matter and spirit, offering the public an immersive experience of transformation. Art becomes ritual, vision, trance. The ancient meets the contemporary in an experience that is not only aesthetic, but also sensory and initiatory. The recent discovery of the Tuscolana Menade, in 2023, represents the symbolic heart of the exhibition Shaman - Dionysian Visions. It is a Roman marble sculpture, lacking a head but with a vibrant drapery that envelops the semi-nude body with intense sensuality. The presence of the nebris - the fawn skin knotted on the shoulder - allows it to be identified as a Menade (Bacchante), an ecstatic follower of Dionysus, the god of wine, altered states of consciousness, the principle of union of opposites, and a symbol of the life cycle of death and rebirth.
