The Historisches Museum Frankfurt is a Frankfurt museum dedicated to the history of the city. Founded in 1878, it is one of the oldest museums in the city, as well as one of the most important city history museums in Europe. It is located in the heart of the historic center of Frankfurt. Its collection traces medieval Frankfurt, the period from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, the city during the nineteenth century and its transformation into a metropolis between 1866 and 2001. It is divided into 15 thematic sectors in which objects related to Frankfurt and to its history. Among the sectors we find, for example, objects of daily and home life, the sector on science and technology of the city, the sector on photography, fashion and clothing items, military tools, furniture, musical instruments, toys, and more. The museum organizes temporary exhibitions and events.
