The Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) is a Frankfurt museum dedicated to architecture. It is located in the Museumsufer (literally the Riva dei Musei, that is an area that concentrates a large number of museums within it), inside an 18th century building. Opened in 1984, it is the first museum entirely dedicated to architecture in Germany. Inside it houses a permanent exhibition entitled "From the ancient huts to the skyscraper", which shows the history of architecture in Germany, also using 25 scale models. It then has a collection of around 180,000 architectural drawings and 600 models, including works by modern and contemporary classics such as Erich Mendelsohn, Mies van der Rohe, Archigram and Frank O. Gehry. There is also a library with around 25,000 books and magazines. In addition, the museum regularly organizes various temporary exhibitions and lecture series. The educational program offers children and adults access to architectural themes in a playful and practical way.
