Museo Ugo Guidi Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 4 pm - 7 pm – FORTE DEI MARMI
On the occasion of the First Edition of the International Days of the Houses of Illustrious PersonalitiesInternazionali delle Case dei Personaggi Illustri - International House Museums Days - Memory and Personalities - the House Museum of the sculptor Ugo Guidi will be open for free visits on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 4 pm to 7 pm.
At 5 pm, the exhibition "ENCHANTED BORDERS" by Paolo Pratali and Mariella Menichini will be inaugurated.
The initiative is part of a broad project "UFODEMENTALART" that includes four activities to be held in Carrara (Bajni Book), Forte dei Marmi (Museo Ugo Guidi), Fosdinovo (Medieval Tower Malaspiniana), and Pontremoli (Palazzo Damiani) curated by Atelier7: from April 3 to August 31, 2025.
Video, Performance, Painting, Sculpture, and Narration in the duality of Madness & Creativity.
In the exhibition at the Museo Ugo Guidi, on the National Day of House Museums, the latest works of two Carrara authors will be presented, who were already militant teachers in the training of Pictorial disciplines at the Artistic High School Gentileschi in Carrara. Mariella Menichini trained between the Art Institute of Vibo Valenza in the field of Ceramics and Contemporary Sculpture. Her research exercises the contamination of open trials between sculpture, decoration, and painting. She has held numerous exhibitions in the national territory, finding satisfying experiments in the areas of furnishings related to interior design. In the rooms of Guidi, she presents 7 mixed techniques immersed in mixtures of alchemy and magical colors that enhance the open boundaries of the captivating vibrations of an intimate mimesis. Paolo Pratali proposes seven minimal objects. His training dates back to the early eighties (shortly after leaving the Academy of '77), collaborating closely with the art historian Giorgio Di Genova in curating creative and conceptual installations. His creative militancy manifested itself through "the journeys of the Elsewhere" where he recovered the Existential Labyrinth of an intense and surgical painting. He has produced and achieved numerous milestones with an artistic-imaginative performance experienced with participation as a protagonist in valuable national and international art events (Bari, New York, Frankfurt, Bologna). He organized the first four Sculpture Symposia in Carrara (since 1979), curated the revolutionary Esoteric List (2002), and the remarkable exhibitions of Imaginarily Eros (2005 & 2006). He started at twenty (1974) curating the Galleries Il Gigante and Atelier: he continued in the dual role of author & art entrepreneur. In 1975, he presented video performances transitioning from painting to sculpture to installation, completing his recent years with book writing and last but not least web graphics. At the vernissage on April 6 at 5 pm, in addition to Paolo Pratali, there will be a preview of UFODEMENTALART with a selection of videos signed by: Becky Guttin, Guglielmo Achille Cavellini, Mario Federico Dell'Amico, Andy Warhol, Monica Michelotti, Piero Manzoni, Yoshin Ogata, Robert Mapplethorpe, Andrea Fagioli, A. R. Penck, Pippo Altomare & Federica Ricca.
The exhibitions of Pratali and Menichini with the "Donazione Niccoli" will be visitable until April 8 by calling 3483020538 or emailing [email protected].
