The Museo della Misericordia is located in the historic center of Florence , on the fourth floor of the historic headquarters in Piazza Duomo.
The Museum was inaugurated in 2016 thanks to Cardinal Archbishop Giuseppe Betori and its construction is the result of three intense years of work. The project includes 14 museum rooms where the works of Mercy are exhibited. La Misericordia was born following the victory of Pietro da Verona over the Patari heretics. At the end of the city revolts, believers began to devote themselves to works of Mercy. After 8 centuries, the institution was born which concretely places itself at the service of the community.
The Museum of Mercy is divided into several sections with archival evidence and documentaries about the origins and history of Mercy . The artistic heritage includes artistic commissions, bequests and donations collected in over seven centuries of activity. The collection consists of works by important artists such as Bachiacca, Sogliani, Carlo Dolci, Dono Doni and many others . Other testimonies present are the means of transport, evolved over time, used for the sick.
