From 9 August to 3 November 2024
Andy Wharol, Mirò, Oliviero Toscani, Jeff Koons, Keith Haring, Tom Hingston, Milo Manara, Banksy. These are just some of the artists behind over 230 vinyl covers exhibited at the Palazzo dei Priori in Fermo from August 9 to November 3, 2024 in the exhibition "MUSICA DA GUARDARE. Author covers and vinyl records from 1940 to today", curated by Alessandro Biocca.
This evocative exhibition covers various musical genres and provides an overview of the history of music and modern and contemporary art from the 1940s to today, through the author covers of vinyl records and some of its greatest protagonists. From pop art and surrealism artists like Andy Warhol and Salvador Dalì to great photographers like Helmut Newton, Mapplethorpe, Ghirri, and important illustrators and cartoonists like Andrea Pazienza, Manara, Crepax, Zerocalcare, to the psychedelic art of Bob Pepper.
The exhibited vinyl records are a selected portion from Alessandro Biocca's extensive private collection of over 8500 vinyl records, the result of meticulous research, collection, and cataloging carried out over 35 years. An exhibition that will enchant music enthusiasts and beyond, for the free, extraordinary, and sometimes provocative way these covers communicate, between energy and fantasy.
The exhibition presents an artistic-musical journey through seven sections, referring to the categories of Alessandro Biocca's collection: first covers, photos, graphics, drawings and comics, contemporary art, censored, printing errors.
