Civic Museum of Paleontology

The path starts on the first floor where the Room of the Earth Sciences and the Room of the Geological Ages are located in which the work of the paleontologist and the fossilization processes are presented, dealt with complex issues such as the genesis of the solar system and life and documented the main ones stages of the evolution of life on planet Earth from the Paleozoic Era to the Quaternary. Also on this floor, for the youngest dinosaur enthusiasts, there is a life-size diorama that immortalizes a moment of struggle between two dinosaurs, a Velociraptor and a Protoceratops. numerous specimens of Pliocene molluscs from various fossiliferous locations in Tuscany are exhibited, including the nearby ex-quarry of Spicchio in the Municipality of Vinci. Finally, in the Sala dell'Evoluzione of the lower Valdarno and the evolution of man, fossils guide us to discover the transformations that our territory has undergone over time and again here, thanks to the finds and numerous exhibits, we discover the main stages of the evolution of man. At the museum there is a tactile-sensorial path that allows the user to be an active subject who searches, discovers, analyzes, elaborates, interprets and understands directly.
