The Brodbeck Foundation is located in the historic center of Catania and is located within a post-industrial complex, a few steps from Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Università. The complex dates back to the nineteenth century and was used as a military garrison during the Second World War. The Foundation was born in 2007 by the will of the family of Paolo Brodbeck, who wanted to promote contemporary art in his hometown. The exhibition spaces host Paolo Brodbeck's collection collected over time thanks to donations from the artists who participated in the residency programs. A cycle of exhibitions exhibiting the most representative works of the collection in rotation. The Residences project welcome artists from all over the world to live and work in the exhibition spaces. The goal is to produce and create close relationships with the social, cultural and artistic realities of the Sicilian city. Of great interest is the new exhibition format “Unfinished Culture” which aims to open the foundation more and more to international collaborations. The Foundation also offers educational training programs with the aim of raising public awareness of contemporary art. In particular, they are aimed at families, schools and adults through workshops, seminars and workshops.
