The Brodbeck Foundation is situated in the historic center of Catania and is located inside of a post-industrial complex, just steps from Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Università. The complex dates back to the nineteenth century and during the Second World War was used as a military garrison. The Foundation was established in 2007 by the family of Paul Brodbeck, who wanted to promote contemporary art in his hometown. The exhibition spaces welcome the collection of Paul Brodbeck collection over time thanks to the donations of the artists who participated in residency programs. A series of exhibitions displaying rotating the most representative works of the collection. The draft Residences welcome artists from around the world to live and work in the exhibition. The goal is to produce and create close relations with the social, cultural and artistic activities of the Sicilian city. Of great interest is the new exhibition format "Unfinished Culture" which is to open more and more the foundation in international collaborations. The Foundation also offers educational training programs with the aim of raising public awareness to contemporary art. In particular, they are aimed at families, schools and adults through workshops, seminars and workshops.
