La Verde La Malfa Foundation

La Verde and La Malfa Foundation

The La Verde La Malfa Foundation - Parco dell'Arte was officially founded in 2008 by the strong will of Elena La Verde, artist and art lover. The entire site, consisting of one hectare of natural park and a large villa divided into several floors, was built by the engineer Enzo La Malfa, husband of the founder, in the early 1970s, as a home for his family.

It was since 2000, fresh from a prolific artistic production, that Elena La Verde, creating a series of installations for the park, felt the need to transform her home into a place of culture, where to preserve and protect forever their own works. Over the years, the nascent foundation acquired a prestigious collection of contemporary art (with works by Guttuso, Pirandello, Schifano, Accardi, San Filippo, Greco and many others), a collection of period clothing from the end of the 18th century and the end of the 19th century and a documentary and book collection with specimens dating back to the second half of the 16th century.

Despite various and continuous impediments and numerous difficulties, after the death of her husband in 2005, Elena La Verde continues her dream by inaugurating the Foundation, which in 2010 was recognized by the Sicilian Region as a non-profit private legal person.

In May 2012 Elena La Verde passed away, leaving behind a huge artistic and literary production. The presidency of the Foundation is taken by his son, Alfredo La Malfa, who decides to continue its mission. In fact, it was in 2013 that the “Elena La Verde” exhibition hall was inaugurated, now home to numerous exhibitions and concerts. Subsequently in 2014 it will open to the public permanently two art rooms dedicated to the themes of "Memory" and "Peace".

Even today, the La Verde La Malfa Foundation continues its development and pursues, according to its statute, its aims of promoting and carrying out study and research initiatives in the area of visual, literary, performing arts and anything else. allow the protection of the artistic heritage of the territory, sanctioning its own cultural role at national and international level.
