The Palazzo di Città or Palazzo Civico of Cagliari is located in the historic center of the city. The Palazzo is also known as Palazzo Bacaredda and was the first municipal seat of Cagliari from the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century. The Palazzo is located in the heart of the Castle, a historic district located in the upper part of Cagliari. The building overlooks the Piazza Palazzo, flanked by the Cathedral of Santa Maria, the Palazzo Regio, the Episcopio and the church of Speranza, marking the epicenter of the social and political life of the city through the centuries. Currently the Palazzo di Città is the seat of important temporary exhibitions in order to enhance the architecture of the Palazzo.
