The City Palace or Palazzo Civico of Cagliari is located in the historic city center. The Palace is also known as Palazzo Bacaredda and was the first town hall of Cagliari from the Middle Ages until the nineteenth century. The Palace is located in the heart of the castle, historic neighborhood located in the upper part of Cagliari. The building overlooks the Palace Square, flanked by the Santa Maria Cathedral, the Royal Palace, from his official residence and the Church of Hope, marking the epicenter of social life and politics of the city through the centuries. Currently the City Palace is home to major temporary exhibitions in order to enhance the architecture of the palace.
