From 27 September to 31 December 2024
Hardworking Lives is a project of participatory and widespread art, dedicated to the theme of work as an identity element and a tool for integration, which originates in Franciacorta to develop, in the course of 2023, in the heart of the two cities designated as the Italian Capital of Culture 2023 in collaboration with GAMeC in Bergamo and Brescia Museums Foundation. A successful example of collaboration between public and private sectors, generating value for the community.
We Shape Humanity is an artistic project by Valerio Rocco Orlando, curated by Caroline Corbetta and commissioned by Guido Berlucchi on the occasion of Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023.
The artwork, accessible to the public for free, was created starting from a series of meetings between the artist and a group of artistic and cultural mediators from the FAI Group Bridge between Cultures - Brescia Delegation - who have been collaborating for years on intercultural projects with Brescia Museums Foundation. During the meetings, a dialogue was established to investigate the forms of social participation arising from the experience of enhancing cultural heritage and the role of work as a tool for individual definition and social integration. Among the reflections that emerged with the participants, the artist selected an emblematic phrase, transcribing it into a neon light sculpture, handcrafted in a unique edition, using the same methodology employed for the other two works of the cycle Hardworking Lives, respectively exhibited on the tower of Castello Berlucchi in Borgonato and in the courtyard of GAMeC in Bergamo.
