From 28 November to 13 February 2022
Wolfango Peretti Poggi, a well-known Bolognese painter whose fame has long since crossed not only city borders but also national ones, has been able to bring together art, drawing, writing, language development, science, philosophy, politics and the entire knowledge of the world of its time. Just as Dante in his Comedia experimented with multilingualism, adapting a specific linguistic register to the characters, so did Wolfango who drew from the catalog of painting styles and techniques, choosing what was suggested to him by different situations.
In September 2020 the late Prof. Emilio Pasquini, illustrious Dante, viewed, in the house-studio of Wolfango, a considerable number of unpublished works relating to the Divine Comedy and with great enthusiasm he thought of organizing an exhibition which, in his opinion, did not it could not take place in the year 2021, the year of Dante's celebrations. Excited by this unique combination, he proposed to Wolfango's daughter, Alighiera Peretti Poggi, to organize an exhibition, because “Wolfango could not miss a year dedicated to Dante, we are in the year of the Centenary!”. It would have been a gift for this city that must never forget that it is also a Dante city.
On the same day Pasquini contacted prof. Fabio Roversi-Monaco, another great admirer of the Bolognese painter, who after having in turn seen Wolfango's Dante works, became personally the promoter of the initiative, involving with the same enthusiasm Graziano Campanini, director of the Museum of Health and Assistance at the monumental complex of Santa Maria della Vita, and Pierangelo Bellettini, director of the San Giorgio in Poggiale Library. In the end, the choice of the exhibition venue fell on Santa Maria della Vita, a place dear to the artist, which had already hosted his personal exhibitions in the past.
The exhibition, curated by Laura Pasquini, daughter of the writer, and Alighiera Peretti Poggi, daughter of the painter, aims to celebrate the Supreme Poet, through the works that Wolfango, in the years between 1963 and 1968, dedicated to the "illustration for figure "of the Comedy and that the Minerva publishing house has collected in the two publications" Il Dante di Wolfango "and" The similitudes of Dante for figure ", edited by Alighiera Peretti Poggi and Laura Pasquini, with contributions by Emilio Pasquini, Eugenio Riccòmini and Sebastiana Nobili.
