From 26 March to 2 August 2026
Fondazione Carisbo and Opera Laboratori, as part of the cultural project Genus Bononiae, present the exhibition Banksy Archive 01 – The School of Bristol 1983-2005, opening at Palazzo Fava on March 27, 2026: a thorough reconstruction of the origins and development of Banksy's imagery within the cultural and artistic context in which it was formed.
Comprising thirty-two sections, the exhibition project reconstructs and frames Banksy's work within its specific generative context, highlighting the role of the so-called "School of Bristol": a core group of artists and protagonists of the local scene – including Robert Del Naja, Tom “Inkie” Bingle, Felix “Flx” Braun, Kyron “Soker” Thomas, and Nick Walker – who contributed to defining the language and creative environment from which iconic works like Balloon Girl and Flower Thrower emerged.
Curated by Stefano Antonelli and Gianluca Marziani, the exhibition features over three hundred works, original documents, and archival materials. The sections are entrusted to artists and cultural figures who shared formative and design experiences with Banksy in the Bristol of the nineties.
The scientific curation and the catalog published by Sillabe are curated by Giovanni Argan, under the supervision of an international scientific committee composed of scholars among the most authoritative in the field of Banksy studies.
