From 21 September to 30 March 2025
From the next 21st of September, Palazzo Albergati hosts the first major anthological exhibition in Bologna dedicated to one of the most extraordinary and moving artists of the twentieth century: Antonio Ligabue.
The special relationship between Arthemisia and Antonio Ligabue began in 2017 with a major exhibition at the Complesso del Vittoriano in Rome, followed by exhibitions in Conversano and Trieste that have been very successful with the public and critics, contributing to the dissemination and knowledge of the work of an artist who is now one of the most sought after in the national scene.
Landscapes, fairs, scenes of daily life, and numerous intense self-portraits: over 100 works - including oils, drawings, and sculptures - will be the protagonists of a unique exhibition where, through the strong emotional charge of the canvases, it will be possible to learn about the life of a visionary and unfortunate artist who, as a self-taught artist, was and still is capable of speaking to everyone with immediacy and genuineness.
Antonio Ligabue, with his troubled life, excluded from the rest of his people, viscerally connected to the natural and animal world and distant from the judgment of others, managed to imprint his creative genius on the canvas; a man, so mad and unique, that with his expressionist harshness still manages to penetrate the souls of those who admire his works.
