The Historical Museum of Bergamo is located in the Upper Town and is located in two locations: inside the former convent of San Francesco and in the Rocca di Bergamo. The Rocca di Bergamo houses an exhibition section dedicated to the Risorgimento, datable between 1797 and 1870. The fortified complex of the Rocca is historically important: it was the seat of power and battles between 1331 and 1859. Only between 1927 and 1933 the fortress underwent a series of restorations to bring it back to its original medieval appearance. Thanks to its rich history it became the ideal place to host and give testimony of the struggles for independence and the unification of Italy. The Bergamo history museum also includes other places: the Old Tower, Palazzo del Podestà, the Donizzettiano Museum and the Torre dei Caduti. Places that have become symbols of the city and that the city of Bergamo recounts today.
