Description

At the IX Triennale of Milan Franco Albini presents a series of furnishing elements commissioned by La Rinascente, including two armchairs in rattan and India cane, which will become Gala and Margherita respectively in the production of Vittorio Bonacina. Their lightweight self-supporting structure is an exemplary tribute to the tradition of popular craftsmanship, that of the basket makers. Albini uses a refined tensile structure engineering device to restore life to the original principle, thus being able to create an aerial seat shape that is not based on the concept of a structure to be covered, but rather makes the structural system coating itself.
