Iron spike or tip that covered the end of a juniper wood post. The toe is made of solid iron and four equidistant sheets come out of it that would collect the wooden post. At the ends opposite the point, the four sheets of iron have a hole for the nail (only one of them), which would fasten each of them to the post.
