The precious ostensory of Voghera, intended for the exposition of the consecrated Host, is one of the most remarkable goldsmith works kept in the museum both for its lively chromaticity due to the skillful use of silver, gilding, blue and green enamels, and for its remarkable dimensions. It is a piece of extraordinary architectural complexity, rich in small statues, niches, spires, and grotesque gargoyles, which repeats the architectural structure of the first spire of the Milan Cathedral, the Carelli spire, completed in 1406. The niello inscription on the base bears the name of the Collegiate Church of San Lorenzo for which it was created and the date May 26, 1456 (This tabernacle was completed for the people of Viqueria, Tortona diocese, in 1456 on the 26th day of May). The ostensory was purchased in 1915 by the Collegiate Church of San Lorenzo in Voghera (Pavia) thanks to a donation to the Civic Collections by Countess Luisa Morelli di Popolo in memory of her husband Galeazzo Visconti.
