The Civic Museum of Viterbo is housed in the 12th century convent, annexed to the church of Santa Maria della Verità and houses finds from the ancient city of Ferento and from archaeological sites in the Viterbo area, and an art gallery with works from the 12th to the 19th century. The exhibition is divided into three floors. The Civic Museum of Viterbo houses an Etruscan and Roman archaeological collection, with funerary objects such as that of the Tomba dei Salvii, terracotta and bronzes. About a thousand artifacts from the Luigi Rossi Danielli Collection are on display, up to the Roman era finds in Ferento. On the first floor is the picture gallery where there are works ranging from the twelfth to the fourteenth century, including two paintings by Sebastiano del Piombo: the famous Pietà of 1516 - 1517 and the Flagellation of 1524. Among the other important works, are there are two polychrome terracotta sculptures from the workshop of Andrea della Robbia and the works of artists of the 16th-18th century, including Cesare Nebbia, Aurelio Lomi, Salvator Rosa, Pietro da Cortona, Antonio del Massaro known as Pastura, a pupil of Pinturicchio and Perugino. On the second floor objects of historical interest are exhibited, such as the fifty-six eighteenth-century sketches of the Machine of Santa Rosa. Also present are 17th-century copies of some lost frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli with Stories from the life of Santa Rosa da Viterbo, a collection of 17th-18th century apothecary jars and a collection of coins.
