From 15 December to 12 January 2025
The exhibition "Mark Edward Smith. Passaggi di tempo" at the Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice from December 15, 2024, to January 12, 2025, presents for the first time to the public an organic collection of Mark Edward Smith's photographic production, who in 2021 donated his archive to the Foundation. Of English descent, born in Morocco and having lived in Italy for a long time, Smith found his existential and professional dimension in Venice. The project, curated by Lorenza Bravetta, is promoted by the Fondazione Querini Stampalia in collaboration with the Venice International Foundation.
The exhibition is accompanied by the video "Mark Edward Smith" (7’20’’) created by Giovanni Sambo, a young artist and filmmaker, winner in 2024 of the Terna Driving Energy 'Giovane' Prize. The film gathers fragments of the photographer's memories through carefully chosen details and fleeting moments, creating a poetic and evocative portrait.
