The Museum of Decorative Arts Accorsi-Ometto represents the dream come true of the antique dealer Pietro Accorsi (1891-1982) who, by will, left his belongings to a cultural foundation to promote the taste for antique furnishings and the knowledge of figurative art from the Middle Ages to the Nineteenth Century. The institution's statutory task is to preserve, enhance, and communicate the heritage of furnishings and art objects entrusted to it by its founder and expanded by his successor Giulio Ometto (1942-2019), during over 20 years of presidency.
The Museum, which for over sixty years was the headquarters of Accorsi's gallery, now presents itself as a house furnished with extraordinary richness. The exhibition path is divided into 25 rooms: eight are set up as they were at Villa Paola, the residence on the hill of Turin, where Accorsi used to invite his guests. Inside, absolute masterpieces are exhibited, such as the double body and the chest of drawers of the astonishing Turin cabinetmaker Pietro Piffetti (1701-1777).
The other rooms, designed by Giulio Ometto following Accorsi's taste, preserve countless objects: from European porcelains of the XVIII century, to silvers and Piedmontese majolica, to objects mounted in gilded bronze to paintings.
