Luca Pignatelli presents an anthological exhibition consisting of fifty works covering the span of his entire career, a sort of "theater of memory", the result of a heterogeneous archive of personal and collective themes from ancient and contemporary eras, all recurring images in his vast production . The works, installed in the rooms on the ground floor of the museum, will be alternated with site-specific creations, produced in particular in the last decade in which abstraction predominates over figuration.

This more recent phase of Pignatelli's work, which could be defined as “aniconic”, is strongly characterized by monochromatic backgrounds and earthy and dull colors on which, however, reds predominate, from cinnabar to ringing verniglioni. In any case, all the themes that made him famous will be presented from the great panoramas of the industrial world of the early twentieth century to the first mechanized cities, from chimneys with dark fumes to increasingly congested urban landscapes, from fighter planes to warships. Also on display will be figures belonging to the classical culture of ancient Greece and imperial Rome, sculptural heads, statues and mythological deities.

The exhibition is curated by Luca Beatrice and created in collaboration with the Poggiali gallery (Florence, Milan, Pietrasanta). A long dialogue between the artist and the critic is published in the catalog.
