The dream is an arrow launched towards the future: uncertain, fragile, but capable of keeping us alive until the last day. It is from this idea that the photographic project "The dreams of the elderly" is born, commissioned by Chora Media to Arianna Arcara and supported by Fondazione Amplifon, which from September 25 to October 19 will be hosted by CAMERA - Italian Center for Photography in Turin, as part of the Chora & Will Days. The photographic story The dreams of the elderly is born together with the new quarterly magazine of Chora Media and Feltrinelli, VOLUME, dedicated to stories and reportages, whose first issue is dedicated to the theme of time.
The exhibition consists of 25 portraits, created by Arianna Arcara of subjects met through the projects of Fondazione Amplifon in Italian nursing homes. Arcara, co-founder of the collective CESURA, explores with her images the concept of "boundary" - human, natural, cultural. Even the elderly portrayed in this exhibition are close to a boundary, but, equally and happily, they dream. Their dreams - which visitors will be able to read and listen to by framing the QR code on display - intertwine memory and future, fulfill ancient desires, walk the line between reality and fantasy, between possible and impossible, but also in this lies the power of dreams.
