Ten years after his passing, the exhibition "H.R. Giger: Beyond Alien" is a great tribute to one of the most fascinating and controversial artists of the late 20th century, a legendary name in the world of graphic and film design. Known to the general public as the man who created the imagery of the film Alien, Giger is actually a versatile artist who has experimented with various techniques and has lent his art to multiple fields.
Giger is a plastic artist, a draftsman, and, above all, a painter considered one of the greatest masters of the airbrush. An artist with his own unique style, "biomechanical," as he defined himself. The genres of fantasy, surrealism, horror, and monstrous imagery have been profoundly changed by the emergence of Alien on the scene, which established the foundations of the aesthetics of darkness in contemporary culture, not only in audiovisual form. The worlds of literature, fashion, design, cinema, music - from pop to heavy metal to electronic - video games, illustration, comics, and art in general, are constantly nourished by the universe created by Giger.
