From 28 October to 8 December 2024
On the occasion of Artissima 2024, Palazzo Madama is pleased to present the project Crossing, an exhibition that brings together four artists of different backgrounds and origins who have agreed to engage with the majestic spaces, the millenary history, and the vast collection of Palazzo Madama.
The exhibition opens with the sculptures of Frédérique Nalbandian - placed at the top of the Juvarrian staircase - in homage to the Roman foundation of the building, and continues inside the museum, in the ceramics room, with a series of large vases created by RunoB, a young artist born in China and a Venetian by choice, who brings to Palazzo Madama a series of 10 vases created during his very recent residency in Nove (Vicenza) and entirely dedicated to the vast ceramic collection of the museum.
The third work of the project is the large roundel of almost two meters that Marta Sforni has specifically created for Crossing, a tribute to the monumental chandelier from 1928 by the Fratelli Toso that dominates the center of the glass room, but at the same time fits into a research, both pictorial and conceptual, that the artist has been carrying out for years.
To close the path, the Juvarrian veranda hosts the large installation of Giuseppe Lo Cascio, a young artist from Palermo particularly attentive to the themes of memory and of a daily life returned through an unexpected and spectacular use of objects.
