The Musée du Vieux-Toulouse is a museum of the history of Toulouse. It is located in a central area of the city, near the central Place du Capitole. Founded in 1907 by the association of the "Toulousains de Touluse", citizens of Toulouse, the museum welcomes visitors in the prestigious setting of a late Renaissance hotel particulier (former residence), the Dumay hotel. The museum offers a real leap in time through the collection that shows the evolution of the city over time. The route is divided into thematic rooms, which address the ancient institutions of the city, the artists of Toulouse, the artistic life at the end of the 19th century (with, of course, a digression on the Teatro del Capitole, which made Toulouse the capital of art opera in France), without forgetting the local porcelain collections or a presentation of customs and popular life at the beginning of the 20th century. The museum is open only in the milder season, from April to the end of October.
