The collections of the Museo del Greco, founded in 1911 and located in Toledo, represent an important sample of pieces of art from the 16th and 17th centuries, an expression of the life and work of El Greco, as well as of the culture and society of Toledo of the era. The museum contains a fundamental nucleus of works from the late period of the painter, among which the 13 paintings that make up the Apostolate, the View and plan of Toledo, the Tears of San Pedro and a selected group of portraits stand out. Although the muzzle focuses on the work of the Spanish masteter, paintings by other Mannerist and Baroque artists, sculptures, archaeological pieces, furniture, textiles and decorative objects of various kinds can also be found here. Thanks to several generous donations,
the collections have been increasing.
These collections have been part of temporary exhibitions and catalogs from the founding of the Museum in 1911 to the present day.
