From 8 April to 8 January 2023
The National Archaeological Museum of Taranto - MArTA is among the winners of the PAC - Plan for Contemporary Art of the Ministry of Culture (call of the General Direction of Contemporary Creativity Ministry of Culture) with a personal exhibition dedicated to the unpublished site-specific artist who it becomes part of the collections of the Taranto institution.
The golden age (la muta) , a work conceived and designed by Federico Gori specifically for the MArTA (and from which also derives the title of the entire exhibition project curated by the director of the museum, Eva Degl'Innocenti, and by Lorenzo Madaro , with the coordination of Gregorio Battistoni of Atlante Servizi), consists of a wooden and transparent glass case structured on several levels, containing a series of sculptures in gold, silver, bronze, copper and iron, made starting from the exuvia of 28 snakes. The choice of metals reflects the succession of ages outlined in Hesiod's Works and Days and is strongly linked with the Golds of Taranto from which the work draws direct inspiration. The exuvia of the serpent is here raised to a symbolic element of mutation, in its deepest meaning: the regenerative capacity of nature and its creatures.
At a time when in the exhibition dimension the relationship between the ancient and the contemporary is at the center of the curatorial reflections of the present, the personal exhibition project The Golden Age conceived by Federico Gori (Prato, 1977) for the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto - MArTA is absolutely pregnant, because it is able to reveal a path of knowledge, indeed a real itinerary among the materials and forms dear to his investigation and the works kept in one of the most important museums in the Mediterranean.
