The Musée historique de Strasbourg is a Strasbourg museum dedicated to the history of the city. It is located on the bank of the River Ill, between the Cathedral square and Corbeau square. Founded in 1920, the museum is housed in the Grande Boucherie de Strasbourg, built in the second half of the 16th century, now classified as a historic monument. The museum shows the political, economic and social history of Strasbourg, through a collection of military objects, clothes, paintings, drawings, sculptures and objects, all dating back to a span of time between the Middle Ages and the 18th century. The collection consists of 200,000 objects, of which only 1,650 are open to the public. Among the most noteworthy works on display we find a monumental dated to 1727 with a representation of the city and the territory that surrounds it, in a 1/600 model over an area of almost 80 square meters.
