The Musée Zoologique de Strasbourg is a Strasbourg museum. It is located near the Strasbourg University building. It exhibits zoology collections managed by the University of Strasbourg. The museum's collection was born from the acquisition, in 1804 by the city of Strasbourg, of the natural history collection of Jean Hermann. The museum's collection consists of birds, mammals, marine invertebrates and insects, with a particular interest in the fauna of Alsace. There is also a reconstruction of Jean Hermann's natural history laboratory with numerous period documents. The museum has been closed since September 2019 for renovation. Its opening is scheduled for 2023 with several changes: the path will develop over 5 different sections, including a permanent space and three semi-permanent spaces and a space dedicated to children. In the permanent space the visitor will be able to discover the real animal world, its evolution and its biodiversity. The semi-permanent spaces will instead be dedicated to three different themes: the Reno river and its landscapes, through the discovery of the characteristics of its ecosystem, inhabited by a very diversified fauna; the Pacific Ocean and finally, the third semi-permanent section will be entirely dedicated to the world of mosquitoes and bees, showing how scientists are trying to find solutions to combat the transmission of mosquito-borne diseases and showing the delicate and current problem of the disappearance of bees .
