The Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg is a Strasbourg museum. It is located on the ground floor of the Palais Rohan, the former residence of the bishops built in the first half of the 18th century. Opened in 1887, the museum comprises two sections: the sumptuous apartments of the cardinals of Rohan and the decorative art collections of Strasbourg, mainly from the 18th century. The collection includes a considerable ensemble of Strasbourg porcelain and goldsmiths. The apartments of the prince-bishops are rebuilt in a state very close to their original appearance: in fact, the apartments were lost after the bombing of the Rohan Palace in 1944. They are decorated with stuccoes, frescoes, tapestries, paintings on canvas and wood and furniture typical of the Rococo and First Empire styles, with a high level of technical and artistic execution.
