Fleeting Thoughts is the title of the exhibition by William Kentridge that occupies the spaces of the Piano Nobile of Palazzo Collicola. Curated by the director of the Civic Museums of Spoleto, Saverio Verini, the exhibition is co-produced by the Festival dei Due Mondi, with the collaboration of the William Kentridge Studio and the Lia Rumma gallery: a partnership that allows for a wide selection of works created in the last twenty-five years by the South African artist, one of the most influential names in the international contemporary art scene. Such an extended time frame allows to grasp the depth, coherence, and evolution of Kentridge's artistic sensitivity, offering the public a broad and articulated view of his production, with drawings, sculptures, videos, prints, and notebooks composing a rich and multifaceted repertoire, which includes the exhibition of over fifty works. The title, Fleeting Thoughts, not only refers to a video present in the exhibition (Fugitive Words), but also to the artist's conceptual matrix: a thought in constant movement, where nothing is definitive and everything can generate unexpected connections. William Kentridge's presence in Spoleto does not end with the exhibition at Palazzo Collicola: the artist also participates in the performance program of the Festival dei Due Mondi with The Great Yes, the Great No and other initiatives in the city; Kentridge is also the author who signs the manifesto of Spoleto68, adding his name to a long list of internationally renowned artists.
