From 17 March to 27 August 2023
The spectacular art collection of Riccardo Molo arrives at the MVSA - Valtellinese Museum of History and Art of the Municipality of Sondrio . Argentina, and above all in Italy. And absolutely Italian is the large collection of art that Riccardo Molo managed to put together in his beautiful villa in Balerna during the 1920s: Previati , Mosè Bianchi , Segantini , Delleani , Fattori, to name a few in a project, typical of the those years, of collection of the heads of each single "regional school".
From 17 March to 27 August 2023 , a selection of 16 works from this collection will be exhibited in the halls of Palazzo Sassi de' Lavizzari, headquarters of the MVSA, in the exhibition " From Fattori to Previati. The Molo collection from the Giovanni Züst Cantonal Art Gallery of Rancate to the MVSA ”, in collaboration with the Giovanni Züst Cantonal Art Gallery of Rancate.
Molo's passion for 19th-century Italian painting was an expression of the general rediscovery that began in the 1920s on the Macchiaioli and, in general, on the painting of the previous century. Painting that was unavailable on the market due to the post war dispersion of many private collections. Riccardo Molo made numerous of his art purchases in Milan, first of all at the Pesaro Gallery between 1926 and 1928 on the occasion of the two auction sales of the important collection formed by the industrialist Giuseppe Chierichetti, distinguished by the presence inside prominent artists of the Italian second half of the 19th century, with an in-depth study that is not taken for granted and projected "forward" towards Liberty and Secessionism and even the Italian 20th century. Even the frequent and pressing sales called by the Galleria Geri saw the presence of Riccardo Molo among the buyers.
