The Weston Park Museum is the largest museum in the city of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The museum is housed in a building considered historic and managed by Museums Sheffield. The museum opened in 1875 at Weston House, whose grounds became its park. At the beginning of its history, the museum contained the collections of archeology, natural history, decorative art and social history of the city. The building, after a major restoration and renovation, was reopened in October 2006 under the name of Weston Park Museum. Among the archaeological finds on display at the museum, we remember the many objects collected by Thomas Bateman, in particular the helmet of Benty Grange. Overall there are seven galleries: the Harold Cantor Gallery; Sheffield life and times; History Laboratory; arctic world; What the hell!; treasures; and Imagine Sheffield. The Harold Cantor Gallery hosts temporary exhibitions, which also include traveling exhibitions by national partners such as the V&A and the British Museum. Particular is the fact that the museum houses one of the longest-lived weather stations in the entire country, active since 1882.
