The Academy of Fine Arts of Egypt is located in Rome in the frame of Valle Giulia, near Villa Borghese and a stone's throw from the other Academies and Cultural Institutes of the city. It was born in 1929 to represent the artistic culture of Egypt in Italian territory and to offer Egyptian talents a meeting place with European culture. The Egyptian Academy of Rome is the only North African Academy in Europe. The Academy includes a museum dedicated to the ancient Egyptian civilization and exhibition spaces that host exhibitions by Egyptian artists, known or emerging, and Italian artists who have significant relations with Egypt. The headquarters also include a guesthouse for fellows and scholars, a rich library and a room for film reviews, conferences and popular music and dance performances. With this spirit every year the Academy welcomes the winners of the National Prize for artistic creativity organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, precisely to encourage the encounter between different cultures and make this diversity a precious opportunity for exchange, making Art the privileged means of communication.
