Delicate porcelain objects that testify to the long ceramic journey of Agatina Librando Mileto and the activity she founded together with her daughters Anna Aloisa and Angela Francesca in 1981 are the protagonists of the exhibition TRADITION AND INNOVATION. The art of ceramic Mileto at the Casa Museo Boncompagni Ludovisi, directed by Matilde Amaturo and belonging to the institute. The exhibition is curated by Matilde Amaturo, Anna Aloisa Mileto, and Beatrice Savelloni and will be open to the public from January 28 to March 2, 2025. The works of the Manifattura L'Arte della Ceramica Mileto, still active, find a congenial placement in the noble floor rooms of the Boncompagni Ludovisi villa, engaging with both the historical ceramic collections of Princess Alice Blanceflor de Bildt bequeathed to the Italian state and with contemporary ceramic productions resulting from donations and museum acquisitions. This exhibition, therefore, is part of a process of enhancing both the collections of the Casa Museo and the ceramic productions of central Italy, offering an extremely interesting overview of a significant aspect of Italian decorative art production of the 20th century and fully responding to the institutional mission of the Casa Museo Boncompagni Ludovisi. Through the exhibition of works ranging from the beginnings of the decorator Agatina Librando Mileto, in the 1940s in Denmark, to the current production, the public will be able to learn about a successful manufacturing story entirely female, traveling through distant times and places.
